Channeling Your Audition Nervousity by Googling the Director: a Personal Anecdote

I just found out via IMDB my audition is for a film by Tom McCarthy, who directed The Visitor and The Station Agent (with the awesome Peter Dinklage). I was once on the set of Cupid with Bobby Cannavale, really, the day after the Obama election. We were shooting at a mental hospital.

We already have something cool in common.  Tom McCarthy was in a film made by Lucas Moodysson, before he went onto to more roles and directed The Visitor. That’s what I’m trying to do – act, make indies.

Plus this character i’m reading is very similar to this short film I was in. I’ve been told it is has strong links to Lucas Moodysson.

I recall, at the time it came out, The Visitor was a film that someone at the Actors Fund highly recommended as good indie to spend your money on (they’re a great place to figure out lots of stuff).  Apparently it was out there for 7 months and I totally missed it. Maybe it was because last year I was emotionally reeled in & destroyed, by Lilja 4-ever while simultaneously sneaking through blockbuster films. Ok, back to work.
